A sun deficient nation

People standing in front of a large atom and map of the worldIn the UK, like the rest of the developed world, the majority of people spend most of their time indoors due to our modern way of life. Additionally, the northern hemisphere is tilted away from the sun for several months during the winter meaning that even if you are able to spend time in the sun, the vital UV or the IR spectrum of the sun doesn’t reach the surface in the UK due to our distance from the Equator.

It is estimated that up to 80% of the UK population are sun deficient, which means they are living with an increased risk of dangerous diseases and conditions such as cancer, multiple sclerosis, osteoporosis, obesity, high cholesterol, Alzheimer’s, diabetes, weak immune system, SAD and high blood pressure.
